Early again you will leave for Ica (about 1 hour away). In Ica
you will visit the Maria Reiche museum (3). Afterwards you will

people interested there is the opportunity to rent a sand-board
and slide down the sand dunes.
Day 5
Departure for Nazca, a small village 150-km south of Ica and about
600 meter above sea level. In the afternoon you can visit the Nazca
lines. Will you take a taxi to the observation tower or would you
prefer to see the lines from an airplane. The choice is yours.
Day 6
In the morning we will go to the desert in search of the cemetery
of Chauchilla (5). Chauchilla is a cemetery dating from the late
Nazca-period. Because of the dryness of this desert, the mummies
have been preserved very well. After this visit we will go to a
pottery where the people are making ceramics the same way the pre-Incas
used to do it. After lunch it is again up to you: Would you like
to visit the Cantallo Aqueduct or would you prefer the pool. In
the evening you will take the night-bus to Arequipa.
Day 7
We will arrive in Arequipa early in the morning and the rest of
the day we will take it easy to adjust to the altitude, 2335 meters
above sea level. Arequipa is surrounded by spectacularly high mountain
peaks, including the snow covered El Misti vulcano. Many buildings
are made with a white vulcano stone, giving Arequipa its nickname
"The White City".
Day 8
Today you will be picked up in the morning to visit some nice places
in the direct neighbourhood of Arequipa (6). In the afternoon you
can visit the Santa Catalina convent.
Day 9 & 10
From Arequipa you will leave for Chivay where you will arrive in
the early afternoon (7). Here you can visit volcanic hot water springs
and take a bath. Early in the morning you will go from Chivay via
the Colca Canyon to Cruz del Condor. Once in Cruz del Condor you
are witness to a sight that can only be found in Peru: Condors use
the thermal layers in the early morning and unexpectedly fly by
at eye-level. After this spectacle you will return to Arequipa.
Day 11
Today you will travel to the Puno where you will arrive in the
evening.

day you will continue to Taquile, an island where time seems to
have stopped for half a century.
Day 14
Today you will travel to Cusco, the former capital of the Inca
empire and according to the Incas the "navel of the world".
In the standard tour you will travel by bus (about 8 hours). Enthusiasts
can take the famous train ride to Cusco as an extra, but the train
only leaves a few times each week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and
Saturday).
Day 15
In the morning we will pick you up for a City Tour in Cusco (9).
Day 16 - 20

visit the market in Pisac? Cusco has more things to do and to see
than we can mention here. What to do on which day is all up to you.
