2. Contacts Cusco
Because of the enormous amount of possibilities in Cusco, Lama
Tours & Education uses several contacts, each one of them
specialised in a certain area.
Alfa Tours (15)
For people who prefer day-trips we recommend Alfa Tours. Alfa
Tours will pick you up from the train station (if applicable)
and will take you on the City Tour. At the end of your stay in
Cusco they will take you to the airport (included in the roundtrip).
There are several possibilities for day-trips in and near Cusco.
An example is the Indian market in Pisac.
From Cusco an excursion is made to the Indian market in
Pisac every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Pisac is a beautiful
village from the 16th century, located at the Rio Urubamba.
The market is a real spectacle because people in beautiful
traditional costumes from the entire area visit the market.

Q'Ente (17)
There is only one real Inca Trail, but there are more agencies
organising this hike than there are ways to Rome. In recent years
we have had very good experiences with Q'Ente. Q'Ente organises
the Inca Trail itself, uses good equipment and has excellent guides.
Machu Picchu is the lost city of the Inka's which was not
discovered until 1911 by Hiram Bingham.
The following years Bingham and his assistants found more
ruins and the remains of a paved imperial road, better known
as the Inka Trail.
|
 |
The Inka Trail is a hike through the Andes that is accompanied
by beautiful panoramic views. The beauty of these views cannot
be captured on photo by the most modern techniques (unfortunately
this also applies to web-sites).
As an extra excursion you can book two different kinds of Inka
Trail with Q'Ente: a 2-day and a 4-day Inka Trail.

3. Other Activities Cusco
Paragliding (parapente) between the mountains of the Andes
is an adventure that will remain with you for the rest of
your life. It all starts with a three-day course. The first
day you will get acquainted with the base techniques that
will guarantee a saf e course, like the equipment (helmet,
radio, harness and paraglider) and the most important techniques
(to lift, steer, brake and land the paraglider).
The first day you will not get any higher than two meters
above the ground. The second day is reserved f or building
confidence in the air. Gradually you will start to jump:
10, 20, 40 and 80 meters.
|
 |
All flights will be studied elaborately by radio by an experienced
instructor who will give instructions.
The third day contains the climax of the course: you will make
your first jump from a mountain of 800 to 900 meters. This is
the moment you will remember the words of an Englishman I met
during my course: Only paragliders know why the birds are singing!
