Introduction Iquitos
The jungle town of Iquitos has 400,000 inhabitants and is located
on the banks of the Amazon. It can only be reached by boat or
by plane. Iquitos was founded as a Jesuit settlement but since
the development of the rubber plantations it has been a full-grown
city.
Tourism is based on eco-tourism. It is a very popular city
as a base for jungle and boat trips.
