Nazca

Back to Overview Peru

Introduction Nazca

Nazca is a small (40,000 inhabitants) desert town at 600 mts above sea level. In the morning the sky can be cloudy, but from 11 in the morning it will clear up and the temperature will rise substantial above 20°C. Nazcas history is impressive and there are plenty of things to see for tourists.

In our standard roundtrip we have included the cemetery of Chauchilla, a visit to a gold refining family and a visit to a manufacturer of ceramics.

In Nazca you will stay for 2 days. You will arrive at approximately 12 o'clock in the afternoon. In the afternoon it is possible to visit the several nearby archeological sites. We have found one of the assistants of Maria Reiche willing to explain about the mysterious Nazca lines in the evening.

For more than 50 years, Maria Reiche has studied and tried to explain the peculiar animal figures, which can only be seen from the air. Apart from her theory people are also speculating about airstrips for alien space ships or flyin g saucers (Erich von Daniken: Where The Gods Cosmonauts).
