Chan Chan
The enormous adobe city of Chan Chan dates from approximately
1,300 BC. It is the biggest Adobe city in the world and it
is also the largest pre-Columbian city in either north or
south America.
Chan Chan was the capital of the Chimu culture (Chimu civilisation
from 1,470 to 1,000 BC). The Chimu Empire stretched from Trujillo
to the north of Peru. It was one of the last cultures to be
absorbed by the Inca Empire. In Chan Chan between 70,000 and
100,000 people used to live.
