Trekking Cusco - 4 Day Trekking Valle de Lares

Route: Huaran - Lares

Introduction

For those who like to avoid the crowdie routes like the Inca trail we have add a more rustic tour; the 4 day trekking in the Lares Valley.

In this hike you walk through the beautiful landscape of the Lares valley, with its magnificent mountains, lakes and lamas. You meet local people and stay in small villages.

Itinerary

Day 1

By bus (1 ½ h) to the start of the hike near an old hacienda in Huarán (2830m) in the "Sacred Valley".You walk along the river: about 5 hours slowly getting higher, having lunch and arriving at the pampa of Cancha-Cancha, at 3800m. There we camp.

Day 2

After breakfast start of the climb to the first pass Pachacutec (4420m), which is about 3 ½ h. going up. Fantastic views of the glaciers of Pachacutec, Pitusiray and the lake Pachacutec. It takes 1 ½ h. down before lunch near the lake Chihuapampa; then 2 h. to the campsite in Kishuarani (3700m), passing the Canchispaqcha waterfalls.

Day 3

From Kishuarani we start the climb of about 3 hours: first passing the lake Queñacocha, then to the second pass, Kkochuyckaza (4240m), from where there are fabulous views at snow covered mountains and the lakes Huillke.It is 1 h. before lunch near the lakes Huillke (3960m) and . more down to the campsite in Concani (3800m).

Day 4

An easy walk, all going down, about 2 ½ h. to the hot springs near Lares. Continuing 1 h. to the village of Lares, where we take the bus back to Calca and then Cusco.
